Yvonne Shinhoster Lamb is a writer and editor who spent more than thirty years as a newspaper journalist before retiring from the Washington Post in 2008. For three years, Yvonne wrote and published a blog on faith. The blog was the genesis of her first book, My Soul Rhythms: Prayer Stories to Ignite Your Spirit.
Mia’s Sad Day Made Glad is her first published children’s book. Another children’s book, Aunt Sarah’s Doll, is scheduled to be published in 2017. Yvonne is also working on a book about the life of her brother, civil rights activist Earl T. Shinhoster.
In 2009, Yvonne helped establish the Earl T. Shinhoster Youth Leadership Institute in Savannah, GA., which seeks to build leadership skills and foster in youth a desire for active, positive participation in their schools, churches and communities. She returns to Savannah each summer to join her siblings and sister-in-laws in reaching and teaching youth.
Yvonne taught journalism as an adjunct professor at Howard University and Trinity Washington University, both in Washington, DC. She graduated from the University of Georgia and received a Master of Science degree in Organization Development from American University. She is pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC.
Yvonne lives with her husband Gregory in Washington, D.C. They have two children and two grandchildren.
